The Great Harvest

Here is a glimpse at our first attempt at a garden.  I've been wanting to garden for years and finally thought I'd try to farm part of my yard.  It is a good thing we started out small because although I have a burning passion for fresh vegetables I have no experience planting a growing and have never even been able to keep a house plant alive!  It is a total miracle that I even have anything remotely to blog about.  I thought I'd share the first harvest with you...

Here it is!!  We each got about 3 beans and not quite a full cherry tomato each!

I Love Wedding Cake!

I'm a total wedding cake girl!  I will never leave the wedding until the cake has been cut and I've had my slice!  The cake matters to me!  I think the taste needs to be equally representative of the look.  I'm a total critic on the taste.

I've been watching Cake Boss on TLC.  Last nights episode totally got me in the mood for wedding cakes.  Here is a few of my favorites I found on a quick search.
Love the idea of chocolate frosting on this one...and the pink roses are soooo pretty!
How about the elegance of this one?  I love the bows and of course the chocolate brown!
How about this for some color?  Maybe some fuchsia brides maid dresses?  Ok, just kidding on that one...but I do have a "gem" in my closet that would look fabulous.
I would so have a beach wedding with this fabulous cake!!!!
This is very different.  Maybe the cake of some graphic designers?
Loving the two side cakes and the fondant bows!
How about the boldness and elegance of black and red???

I'm so in the mood for cake right now!  I have no wedding invitations on the horizon either...bummer! My next closest cake even will be a baby shower in a few weeks...i'll be tasting the cake!

Zuchinni Bread...otherwise known as "cake"

Today I whipped up a little zuchinni bread for our "dessert" after dinner. This was presented as cake and loved by all! I'll share the receipe if you'd like some too. I'll be putting it in Ethan's lunchbox for his afternoon snack this week, if it makes it through the night!

Grate a med-large zuchinni (I used an organic, feel free to use your choice)
1 c. sugar ( I used organic raw sugar)
1 egg
1/4 c. oil ( I used organic canola oil)
1 1/4 c. flour (I used organic whole wheat)
1t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. nutmeg
I also threw in about 3-4 T. Brown Cow vanilla yogurt - one of my favorite baking ingred. these days. I put it in my banana bread. Great flavor and added moisture!

Mix the grated zuch. with sugar and egg. Add oil. Add dry that have been mixed together. Throw in yogurt if you desire. Also you can add walnuts (yum!). I was out and my younger doesn't like.

Bake at 350 until it is done.

Don't you love my technical baking terms and measurements! So sorry for those anal measurers and directions followers out there. Remember I'm a wing it girl!

Shredded carrots would also be good in this receipe. A great way to get those veggies in them!

If you must cream cheese spread on this bread would be wonderful too! Ok, I'm going to go finish the mini loaf now!

Yeah for Edamame (Ed-a-May)...it rhymes!

I recently had Edamame at some Japenese restaurants and really liked it! So, at the HT the other day I came across Organic Edamame in Sponge Bob packets (personally not a big fan of the Bob)so, I decided to give it a try on my kids. They loved it the first night and then last night asked for it again...photo of them liking it again! You can even put the little packets in their lunch. They get to pick the beans out of the pod...kinda fun to pop them out.
